COMPETITION DATES

The Winter season runs from April to August each year.  Games are likely to commence on 10 April 2026. Games will be scheduled during school holidays.

ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION

GIRLS PLAYING MIXED FROM UNDER 12+
Any girls wishing to play in the mixed competition from Under 12’s and older require approval. The decision to allow a female aged over 12 years to play in mixed competition should be based on her suitability for that team and such players should be assessed to determine whether they have the strength, stamina and physique to play in that team and against players of mixed gender in that age group.

DUAL REGISTRATIONS

Dual registrations will be by invitation only in 2026. More details can be found in the 2026 Grading Policy.

HOW TO REGISTER

Registrations are through Playfootball. If you have created an account in Playfootball in previous years please use those login details. Alternatively, with a new account, you will get a new FFA number and have no playing history. If you are unsure of your login details, contact Playfootball support on 02 8880 7983.

Please familiarise yourself with the information below to better enable you to have a smooth registration experience.

If your intention is to grade in an age group higher than your true age, please register in that age group.

Please make sure that the necessary documentation, photos and any updated personal information is ready prior to registering online.

All players from Under 12 onwards require a passport-style photo to be uploaded during the registration process. This means head and shoulders only on a plain background. NO hats or sunglasses should be worn. IF you play with approved sports glasses, these must be worn in the photo.

MWFA TEAM NUMBERS GUIDE

In order to ensure all players in teams in the U6 to U11 non-competitive age groups get reasonable playing time, MWFA recommends limits be placed on the number of players registered in a team.

The recommended range strikes a balance between having enough players to allow for absences but not so many as to significantly impact playing time. The recommended maximum ensures that, on average, every player will play around three quarters of a game, every game. Additional players quickly reduce the on-field time of all the players.

MWFA RECOMMENDED TEAM SIZES ARE AS FOLLOWS
U6 and U7 Players on Field: 2X4 | Minimum Team Size: 9 | Maximum Team Size: 13
U8 and U9 Players on Field: 7 | Minimum Team Size: 8 | Maximum Team Size: 11
U10 and U11 Players on Field: 9 | Minimum Team Size: 10 | Maximum Team Size: 13

U12 to U18 Players on Field: 11 | Minimum Team Size: 13 | Maximum Team Size: 16
